【Korea.Cheongju】★★★★☆ South Korea Presidential Villa – Cheongnamdae

In this area of Cheongju, the most recommended attraction for individuals should be “Cheongnamdae”! (Official website link)

Cheongnamdae is in the south of Cheongju, and the journey from the city is about two hours.

From Yellow Hotel that we are staying, we walked to the bus terminal of Lotte Mart first. The 311 bus will take us directly to the final station, Munui (문의) Station. The journey takes about one hour, then we have to walk from Munui Station to the Cheongnamdae shuttle bus Station. You can directly buy tickets for Cheongnamdae and the round-trip tickets for KRW 8,200 (adult)

It is required to walk a short distance from Munui Station to the Cheongnamdae shuttle bus Station

When we arrived, we can see that there was already a large number of people waiting in line. We needed to buy tickets at the station next to us first, and then we can wait for the car. I couldn’t find the time table, but it is about half an hour for the bus period.

After arriving at Cheongnamdae, the place where the shuttle bus stops is the President’s History and Culture Center. We visited it, and took a map first.

The Presidents’ Museum of History and Culture, a three-floor building, shows and introduces each president of Korea over the years and relevant historical relics.

Because it is a historical and cultural center, both the good president and the sentenced president are included in it!

You can also experience being the president of South Korea !

Some of the presidents’ hands are so small! The exhibition includes many artifacts, such as pots and pans used by the president~

Since we did not eat anything in the morning, we came over and it was already time for lunch when we visited the historical and cultural hall. I asked the tour guides to know that there was no restaurant set up here.

Fortunately, there was a small store on the opposite side, selling cookies, instant noodles, etc… This was our lunch today! (Let’s have a good dinner at night @@)

After eating, We finally had the strength to continue walking! We first visited the main building – the villa when the Korean president was vacationing!

Since we’re not allowed to take pictures of the villa’s interior, it can only be described as “Fantastic!”, in addition to the president’s living, living room and other spaces, there are still a lot of rooms, I think hundreds of people can occupy this marvelous structure.

There is a small garden at the rear of the villa, as well as the starting point of a trail, and you are allowed to take pictures here !

We expect to visit the fish pond and another memorial hall after the main building is finished. There are still forest trails to range over, but considering the time (mostly at least half an hour) and strength (strength is the point), we finally decided not to take the forest trail and just go straight to the fish pond.

There is a fountain in the middle of the fish pond, and there will be a water dance maybe every 30 minutes! The two monkeys who have heard the music of the water danced happily~~~

There are a lot of paintings in the memorial hall, mainly to commemorate the significant historical events of Korea. When we visited, it seemed that there was a special exhibition. The content was the recent interview between South and North Korea, very interesting!

I asked my monkey girl that who in the photo she likes better. Same as what I imagined, that she likes the one who is handsome! Haha~~

The park is gigantic, and there are also many commemorative cultural relics. For example, this should be an important thing. It is definitely not to be used for the cooking ! !

I also took a lot of photos with many famous presidents today, although I’m not familiar with most of them.~~~

The park is very massive! We actually got to explore a small part of it.

A lot of forest trails can be seen on the map, which are all named “XXX president’s trail”.

Since today is the last day of our trip, I have to go back to the hotel to prepare and take my luggage to the airport later… so we can’t stay too long here~ It’s really a pity!

[To sum up]

The entire area of Cheongnamdae is very large! Although the transport is not so convenient, it takes about two hours to get there. However, in addition to the culture and local characteristics, there are many beautiful scenery and buildings to see. If you have done a bit of research on the history of Korea, it would be more interesting! (I didn’t study the history of Korea, so I just took a walk to see the scenery, and then took photos with many presidents I don’t know), I highly recommend this place~~
